I like Battlestar Galactica.
I'm not referring to the old Battlestar Galactica series from 1978, but the new one. All I can remember of the original series are charming males with funny hairstyles of the time.
I don't know if the old Battlestar Galactica was any good, but the new one is. I don't think I have seen a series as good as this since Star Trek: The Next Generation.
When I watched the pilot, I was impressed, and I thought to myself "I hope they don't mess it up" - and they didn't. The episodes in the series uphold the quality of the pilot.
I like the cast. Fans of the original Battlestar Galactica complain that two main male characters have been replaced by female characters, but I can only praise this decision.
I like the act. The actors in Battlestar Galactica are great and they all do a good job. There's a good cohesion going on. My favorite actor in this series would have to be Edward James Olmos; I've seen him in other roles, having a mustache and playing shady characters, but he is quite striking as Commander Adama.
I like the setting. The people are pretty, but not glaringly pretty as in Lost. I like how they explain the lack of high tech on the ship (the Cylons are expert at hacking computer networks, so they have to keep all critical systems separated and operated manually).
I like the story. Humankind originally originated from a planet called Kobol, and later they departed to thirteen colonies: twelve of the colonies kept in touch and went one way, and the thirteenth went to a place called Earth. The scientists at the twelve colonies dabbled in artificial intelligence, created the Cylons and drove them away. The series begins at the point where the Cylons come back and wipe almost all of known humanity out.
Generally, there is a good feel to Battlestar Galactica. There is a proper amount of everything in it. If you ever liked science fiction, give Battlestar Galactica some of your time.
Go watch Battlestar Galactica!
