I like Dogville.

Dogville is a good movie.

It is quite long, almost three hours, and even until the last chapter I was thinking to myself "Now, this is either an excellent movie or a very shitty and depressing one."

Thankfully, in the end, it turned out to be a very good one, justifying all the moments it almost seemed like torture.

My advice: Watch it.

And, if you decide to watch, by no means abort halfways.

Dogville is played on a stage which represents the village. All the house walls are just markings on the stage. It has the effect of being able to see the actions of all the inhabitants in the village.

The actors' performance had to be first rate to pull this off - and they did play remarkably.

Grace, a young and beautiful fugitive, stumbles upon the village of Dogville, and the members of the community gradually accept her in their peculiar and distressing fashion.

Their relationship and the story progresses until...

The focus of the film is on different kinds of arrogance, and the fine line between arrogance and responsibility.

Dogville leaves a deep and well-placed impact.
