Neon Genesis Evangelion

I like Evangelion.

I saw Evangelion early in my career as an otaku, and this series is inadvertently a yardstick I measure anime quality with.

Neon Genesis Evangelion has plenty of stuff which is usually associated with anime: good story, big robots, mystical references, characters with depth - generally a good experience.

Evangelion has two endings: the original ending of the series, and a movie which provides an alternate end.

The original ending is quite philosophical in nature, and adds the 'kick' to the whole series. Since I'm more philosophically inclined, I was quite impressed - without it, it would just be a Lynch-style anime.

Many people disliked it though, and empathically conveyed their dislike to the creator of the series, Hideaki Anno. Another ending was created, a movie more focused on action and destruction. Interesting in conjuction with the original ending.

The scene of congratulation in the original ending and the scene of Asuka yelling "Kill! Kill! Kill!.." in the movie are ones which will stay with me for a long time.

Use AT-Fields with care.

Go watch Neon Genesis Evangelion!
