The Man Who Knew Too Little

The Man Who Knew Too Little is an older Bill Murray movie (1997), but one of the funniest.

Wallace Ritchie, a video store clerk from Des Moines, Iowa decides to visit his brother James in England on the day of his birthday. Since James is expecting clients from Germany for dinner, they decide Wallace should in the meanwhile try out this new thing called Theater of Life.

By accident, Wallace talks to an assassin instead of the actor who's call he was expecting. Assuming this call is a cue for his act, he goes on with the story and remains oblivious to real happenings (top officials long for the cold war situation and attempt to disrupt an important peace conference).

Bill Murray is the greatest. Unlike many other actors who equate 'annoyance' with 'comedy', Bill Murray is humorous without dumbing himself down.

After watching The Man Who Knew Too Little and subsequently seeing Bill Murray in more serious movies, I have the feeling that his comedy genius will burst out at any time and keep expecting it - which possibly detracts from my immersion in the non-comedy movie.

The story of The Man Who Knew Too Little complements well the actors' performance, and vice versa. (My favorite character is Boris the Butcher, played by Alfred Molina.)

Did I mention that this movie is insanely funny? Well, it is.

Go watch The Man Who Knew Too Little!
