There are two places in Anarchy Online I had most fun at: the tutorial island and the Temple of Three Winds dungeon.
The Temple of Three Winds had everything a good dungeon requires: nice layout, the right amount of players in an instance, monstery monsters, good drops, and plenty of ways to interact and play the way you want to.
(I especially liked that groups of interest form naturally at the point of interest. Much fun.)
And it had trains.
A train is a mythical monster, similar in some ways to lag. However, whereas lag strikes from outside the space-time continuum, a train is an aggregate of real virtual evilness.
You see, to get to the heart of the Temple of Three Winds dungeon, you had to advance through long, narrow corridors. At each step, a pair of cultists guarded adamantly their home.
Now, if you are a conscientious player, you would gather a group and eradicate all the guards in your way. This is a slow, but effective approach.
If you are less conscientious, you would just run through. This act would invoke the mega-monster called the train and it would take the form of hundreds of cultists chasing after you.
And not just you!
When the mountain of evilness descends upon the more or less unsuspecting players, all you hear are the dead cursing the one who brought this unavoidable menace upon them. (The experienced players accept it as a rule of the place and just run as fast as their feet can carry them.)
Ah, good times.
