It is said that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. This is a very narrow and false view. Love of money is not the root of any kind of evil.
However, the need of money does lead to many kinds of imbalances and difficulties. Even there, it is not the objective need which is bad (we all rely on money for our survival in modern society), but the feeling of need and our lacking attitude towards money.
Greed is the name for excessive feeling of need. People who pursue a greedy life try to inflate their egos and perceived value of their lives by measuring it with financial quantities.
Love of money leads to a completely different path: love of money allows us to use money skillfully and for our true goals in life.
Those who don't love money have very slight chances of mastering money, and often become slaves to money instead.
